Read mutation slots and unlock requirements
Mutation choices follow lifecycle progression; inherited slots differ from the choices you make directly. Some mutations require an unlock action or have species or slot restrictions.
If a suggested mutation is missing, check its name, requirements, stage and game branch first. Avoid spending a life on an unlock count copied from an outdated guide.
Choose around your playstyle and weaknesses
Decide on a role first. A solo player needs to survive the whole route, while a coordinated pack can focus more on fight tempo and teamwork. A mutation's value also depends on species and the situations you regularly face.
- Survival: address the food, water and escape problems you actually encounter.
- Movement: consider the running, jumping, flying or swimming demands of your species.
- PvP: consider damage types, engagement patterns and recovery between exchanges.
Use the two builds in each species profile
Each EFG species profile offers two build directions with mutation explanations. Read the playstyle and species limitations before copying the list. These are EFG strategy suggestions, not an official developer ranking.
Connect your build to Prime
If you want Prime, review its requirements before committing to choices that affect fertility or character status. Do not assume growth alone guarantees every mutation slot.
Entomb and inheritance can make builds differ between lives. Compare under matching conditions so you do not confuse a mutation's effect with changes caused by age, diet or server settings.
Evaluate a build beyond a tier list
After a life, ask what each mutation solved, how often its benefit mattered and what you gave up to take it. Record the situation and game version so your next adjustment has a clear reason.
Battle Lab and Team Picker help compare stats and lineups. They do not fully simulate every mutation, terrain feature, latency condition or player skill, so use the results to support a decision.
