The Isle Entomb Guide: Mutation Retention & Full Slots

Entomb ends a life at 100% growth and continues the same species with retained mutations. Here is how to use it and manage a build once its slots are full.

How to Entomb at 100%

Official patch 0.21.321 confirms the 100% threshold, a fresh spawn of the same species, retained mutations and enhanced benefits. Entomb ends your current animal; you must grow again.

  • At 100%, find cover, hold H to sleep, then open TAB → Mutations → Entomb (default controls).
  • Read the confirmation and choose to continue/replicate to preserve the chain. Prime grants the fourth slot; Frail can still Entomb with fewer choices.

Which mutations carry over?

Previous choices move into the small retained slots; the new life unlocks its large selection slots through progression. Do not reselect a mutation that is still retained. Actual occupancy depends on completed choices, Prime and mutations present when hatching.

From 4 to a maximum of 16 slots

Community-based example: start without nesting inheritance, achieve Prime and fill all four choices each life. Counts are after filling that life's slots, not immediately on respawn.

What happens when every slot is full?

The cap is 12 retained slots plus 4 current-life slots. The community Steam guide reports that continuing from life 4 replaces the oldest mutation group with the newest. Reselect a core mutation once it rotates out of the retained pool.

In the example, life 5 replaces the life-1 group, retains lives 2–4 and offers four new choices. The community guide reports that reselection within the chain keeps the enhanced value; check your mutation panel after each Entomb.

Enhancement has limits; death ends the chain

Do not apply one bonus to every mutation. Evrima Quick Guide lists Cellular Regeneration tiers of 15% → 20% → 25% → 25%: another Entomb does not always increase the effect. Check the individual mutation and server settings.

An ordinary death before a successful Entomb loses this chain's progress. Treat the mutation set as part of the surviving lineage, not a permanent account upgrade.

Entomb differs from nesting inheritance

A hatchling does not receive its parents' entire 16-mutation set. Community observations describe nesting inheritance from parents' current large-slot choices, not a copy of the Entomb pool. Individual mutations also have inheritance rules; consult the references and in-game panel.
