A signal is a clue, not a conclusion
A direction containing food is not necessarily safe to approach. Listen and look around before leaving cover; ask what remains out of view.
Check controls before an emergency
Reference controls use held Q for scent and tapped Q for the compass; check Key Bindings if remapped. Learn symbols in a suitable location rather than guessing while running into unfamiliar ground.
Use sound to choose where to look
When you hear activity, pause unnecessary actions and look from several angles. Terrain, weather and updates can complicate localisation; volume alone does not establish an exact distance.
- Lower voice chat if it masks game audio.
- Avoid repeated calls simply because nobody is visible.
- Seek visual confirmation before giving the group a definite report.
Follow signals in stages
Approach a point that still offers an exit, then reassess. If a signal disappears or terrain conflicts with your expectation, check another angle instead of accelerating. Do not follow a clue so intently that you forget water and stamina.
Practise with a teammate
In a quiet area, let one teammate act as a reference while another observes from several angles. Describe what you actually hear or see, then compare positions. Do not turn one trial into a rule for every species.
Sources and scope
Tactical decisions and checklists are EFG editorial suggestions. The references below provide mechanic guidance or update announcements; community sources may lag behind the game. Check the branch, version and server rules when information differs.
