Read the surroundings before the carcass

Check the approach, escape route and signs that someone controls the carcass. Do not let hunger distract you from players outside your immediate view.

Check your own diet

A large carcass is not automatically best for your species or stage. Read the in-game diet list and status before committing to a food source. Do not infer suitability solely from an illustration online.

Choose the approach

Keep visibility to either side and avoid squeezing between feeding players. In a group, take turns so somebody remains observant rather than gathering everyone over one spot.

  • Exit blocked: change the approach or leave this food source.
  • Another group arrives: reassess before continuing to feed.
  • Unsure about body-down rules: check before contesting a carcass.

Do not spend a whole life defending food

Compare the next feeding opportunity with the risk of losing your exit. Once you have enough for the next journey, leaving can be better than staying merely because you won an exchange.

Check carrying or dragging in context

Carcass interactions may vary by species, size and update. Use in-game prompts, test in a low-risk position and keep your exit clear. Do not base an entire plan on carrying a carcass you have not checked.
