Choose your exit before drinking

No bank is guaranteed safe. Before approaching, identify a route back onto land and an alternative if that route is blocked.

Observe before reaching the edge

Pause where you can look around and check the water, vegetation and signs of gathered players. Calm water does not prove predators are absent. Avoid maps or lengthy chat while drinking.

Make the approach deliberate

Keep enough reserves for the exit and choose a bank that suits your current species and size. A route that worked as a juvenile may become awkward later.

  • Check slopes and obstacles before stepping down.
  • In a group, take turns so someone remains observant.
  • At a warning sign, leave the edge before choosing another drinking spot.

What if you are thirsty and the bank is occupied?

Compare the detour with your remaining water. If you have reserves, change course early rather than waiting until empty. If you must approach, focus on drinking instead of also contesting food or watching strangers.

Leave the choke point afterwards

Move clear of the exit so teammates can use it. Check the map and choose your next stage after leaving the water’s edge. Avoid crowding around a drinking player.
