Overview and gameplay loop
Face the threat. Protect your flanks.
Tyrannosaurus suits players who control an area through positioning and pressure. Keep open ground ahead, disrupt approaches with muzzle swing and commit when the opponent closes in. Protecting your flanks matters more than chasing every small target.
+Extreme mass and bite force
+Knockdown and fracture
+Strong space control
−More than 35 hours of growth
−Slow and easy to kite
−Very difficult to conceal
Special abilities and controls
Verified against the current ability set in patch 0.21.772. Shown keys are defaults; players with custom binds should check Settings → Controls.
Combat and unique abilities
Both attacks inflict fracture; the directional bite consumes stamina but covers your flank more effectively.
A lighter camera-directed swing that knocks down small targets.
Knock down targets below roughly 75% of Rex mass and stagger similar-weight opponents; this attack has a readable wind-up.
Launch a crushing bite that fractures and can pin or execute targets below roughly half your mass or already weakened. SPACE cancels it; missing causes self-stun.
From 50% growth, gain about 15 seconds of sprint burst without stamina cost, followed by a cooldown; use it before prey escapes your top speed.
Survival and environmental interactions
Keep open terrain in front of you
Do not chase small prey into dense forest
Shallow water reduces Deinosuchus risk
An apex carcass attracts rivals and scavengers from far away
EInteractWallow at a mud pool to reduce tracks and scent for a while.
QScentScent while standing still to read water, diet, carcasses, tracks and distant zones.

Broadcast · friendly · threaten · help. Loud calls reveal your position.
Use N to pair or place a nest; B builds a mound nest for supported species.
Damage by ability
Actual damage also depends on mass, hitbox, attack direction, bleed and server balance. The table separates fixed values from scaling abilities to avoid treating community figures as absolute damage.
Community reference for Bite; actual results still vary with mass, hitbox and server balance.
Crush scales with target state, mass, speed or contact conditions; use the listed value as a reference rather than guaranteed damage.
Heavy Muzzle Swing scales with target state, mass, speed or contact conditions; use the listed value as a reference rather than guaranteed damage.
Recommended mutations
This list is the species-wide foundation. After choosing a build below, follow its dedicated loadout order instead of keeping the general priority.
Improves fracture resistance in heavy combat.
Improves recovery between combat rotations.
Reduces damage pressure when fighting heavier opponents.
Makes food last longer during extended travel or contests.
Two builds & detailed guides
Choose the role you want to play in this life. These are EFG tactical recommendations, not universal meta builds for every matchup.
Apex duel
Fight Rex or Triceratops.
Face the primary target, protect the legs and stamina, and never turn on bait that exposes the flank.
Choose in order from 01 → 04
Prioritize the first mutation in the list. If it is unavailable or slot-limited, use the next option and check again at the next milestone.
Improves fracture resistance, especially in heavyweight matchups.
Reduces damage taken when fighting a heavier species.
Speeds up health regeneration and reduces downtime.
Improves bleed resistance during trades or pack pressure.
TACTICAL GAMEPLAY LOOP
Hide, eat AI and avoid every adult apex.
Hold the front → disrupt with a muzzle swing → use heavy swing or crush after commitment → do not chase beyond your territory.
Face the primary target, protect the legs and stamina, and never turn on bait that exposes the flank.
CONDITIONS FOR THIS BUILD
↗Keep open terrain in front of you
↗Do not chase small prey into dense forest
+An apex matchup requires a direct fight and terrain protects your flank.
+Knockdown and fracture
−More than 35 hours of growth
−Slow and easy to kite
NOTE: A build guides decisions; it does not replace reading hitboxes, stamina, team numbers and server-specific settings.
Ambush
Catch a misplaced mid-tier.
The opening bite must create a fracture or positional lock; if it misses, reset into cover instead of chasing blind.
Choose in order from 01 → 04
Prioritize the first mutation in the list. If it is unavailable or slot-limited, use the next option and check again at the next milestone.
Makes tracks fade faster to help break pursuit.
Increases damage against targets at low health.
Increases damage against bleeding targets.
Lowers the stamina-regeneration threshold and requires an activity unlock.
UNLOCK REQUIRED · Slot 2 or 3TACTICAL GAMEPLAY LOOP
Do not broadcast; complete the diet before long travel.
Hold the front → disrupt with a muzzle swing → use heavy swing or crush after commitment → do not chase beyond your territory.

Growth time, mass and diet
Tyrannosaurus from 0% to 100%
Before Adult: one nutrient gives 100% growth speed, two give 200%, and all three give 300%. Diet does not speed up Elder ageing at 75–100%. The table assumes a 1× server.
Diablo, Triceratops, Hypsi, Deer, Chicken, Rabbit
Stego, Teno, Pachy, Boar, Crab
Maia, Galli, Dryo, Beipi, Goat, Psittacosaurus, Turtle
Maintain α, β and γ together for 300% Growth. Each bar only needs a remaining value; when one reaches zero, speed immediately drops to the corresponding tier.
AI spawns by region and player/server density; spawn descriptions refer to habitat types, not guaranteed coordinates.
Brown body, long legs and antlers; larger than a goat and often runs in long bursts.
Land AI favoring forest edges, grassland and active player corridors; it has no guaranteed fixed coordinate.Low, thick and dark brown; it charges straight when startled and disappears easily in bushes.
Land AI found in forest, forest edge and grassland; density depends on player and server activity.Small, pale and compact with short horns; easy to mistake for a light object at range.
Open terrain, hillsides and grassland; its call is often easier to detect before the animal is visible.A tiny round ground bird that runs in a zigzag and vanishes in grass.
Near trails, forest edges and active player areas; suitable prey for juveniles.Extremely small with long ears and short bursts of speed; difficult to see in tall grass.
Grassland and forest edges; it is often noticed only after it starts running.Flat armor and side claws, moving sideways across sand or rock.
Coasts, mudflats and very shallow water; scan along the shoreline. An oval shell and broad flippers; larger and slower than schooling fish.
Coastal shallows near shore; locations change with server AI density.A small bipedal dinosaur with a beaked head; low to the ground and fast.
Land AI near bushes, forest edges and active players; use its call to find direction.Prime stats for Tyrannosaurus

Tyrannosaurus lived 68–66 million years ago and is chronologically closer to humans than to Stegosaurus.

Reconstructing Tyrannosaurus
A Tyrannosaurus reconstruction by Nobu Tamura. The form reflects the artist’s interpretation of evidence; coloration and soft tissues should not be treated as a photograph of the living animal.

The SUE skeleton
The Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton known as SUE, isolated from the original photograph. A mounted pose helps reveal body proportions; restored portions remain part of the museum's interpretation.

Part of the body surface

Its skull and teeth indicate an enormous bite capable of crushing bone rather than only slicing flesh.
Crush, fracture and ambush turn Rex mass into readable attack windows that opponents can avoid.
