Tenontosaurus

Tenontosaurus has an active answer for most situations: claw, kick, tail and slam. The challenge is stamina, because a missed combo is often worse than holding your attack.

ROLE & DECISION LOOP

Overview and gameplay loop

All-rounder

Save stamina to answer each angle of attack.

Tenontosaurus suits players who answer different attack angles with a versatile moveset. Use forward attacks to stop an approach, turn the tail toward flankers and slam after a commitment. Preserve stamina so you still have an answer for the next exchange.

Science & another perspectiveTenontosaurus is known from abundant fossils in North America's Cloverly Formation.

Combat and unique abilities

LMBleft mouse
Bite

A basic attack with less commitment than the heavier combo tools.

ALT + LMBALT + left mouse
Directional Claw

Sweep toward the camera while standing, walking or trotting to inflict bleed and change the combo angle.

RMBright mouse
Rear Leg Kick

Your main burst attack, causing knockdown or stagger and bleed; missing leaves a large opening.

Directional Tail Slam

Raise and slam the tail toward the camera. It deals less damage than the kick but is useful for swatting raptors and creating misdirection.

Survival and environmental interactions

COMBAT NUMBERS

Damage by ability

Actual damage also depends on mass, hitbox, attack direction, bleed and server balance. The table separates fixed values from scaling abilities to avoid treating community figures as absolute damage.

04
MUTATION PRIORITY

Recommended mutations

This list is the species-wide foundation. After choosing a build below, follow its dedicated loadout order instead of keeping the general priority.

#1
Multichambered Lungs

Improves stamina uptime for repeated movement and ability rotations.

#2
Truculency

Improves the chance of dislodging a pouncer.

#3
Epidermal Fibrosis

Reduces the risk of losing bleed trades.

#4
Cellular Regeneration

Improves recovery between combat rotations.

EFG RECOMMENDATION · VERIFY IN GAME
TACTICAL GOAL

Resist a pounce pack.

MUTATION FOCUSBleed resist · stamina · recovery
STOP RULE

Keep at least 40–50% stamina before the pack closes in and save the kick for an actual pounce or latch window.

MUTATION LOADOUT

Choose in order from 01 → 04

Prioritize the first mutation in the list. If it is unavailable or slot-limited, use the next option and check again at the next milestone.

01
Epidermal Fibrosis

Improves bleed resistance during trades or pack pressure.

02
Truculency

Improves the chance for herbivore kicks to dislodge pouncers.

03
Tactile Endurance

Converts part of incoming damage into stamina loss; limited to Slot 2.

SLOT LIMIT · Slot 2 only
04
Cellular Regeneration

Speeds up health regeneration and reduces downtime.

01
Life preparation

Leave Sanctuary along the edge of Migration.

02
Execute

Protect stamina → stop the approach with kick or front attack → turn the tail into circling enemies → slam only after commitment.

03
Reset / disengage

Keep at least 40–50% stamina before the pack closes in and save the kick for an actual pounce or latch window.

PREFERRED TERRAIN

↗Light forest allows head and tail transitions

↗Put terrain behind you against raptors

ADVANTAGE TO SECURE

+A raptor pack is applying pressure and you must hold space for teammates.

+Good speed

RISKS TO AVOID

−Combos consume stamina

−Easy to turn the wrong direction

NOTE: A build guides decisions; it does not replace reading hitboxes, stamina, team numbers and server-specific settings.

Mutation names, unlock conditions and effects may change with hotfixes. EFG prioritizes developer data; unclear items are treated as community recommendations and should be verified against the in-game description.

GROWTH & DIET MATRIX

Growth time, mass and diet

αCARBS

βPROTEINS

Fun fact

Deinonychus fossils are often found near Tenontosaurus, but this alone does not prove a complete coordinated pack hunt.

Tail slam and rear kick turn the long tail and robust body into anti-encirclement tools.
