ROLE & DECISION LOOP

Overview and gameplay loop

Tiny support

Open an escape route for the herd.

Hypsilophodon can help the group escape without staying close to an attacker. Prepare spit behind cover, use it when the opponent faces you, then change direction together. A small body helps you find gaps that larger animals cannot easily enter.

Brush and tree rootsSupport the escapeStay beyond bite range
Science & another perspectiveHypsilophodon was once illustrated as a tree climber, but modern interpretations treat it mainly as a ground runner.
PRACTICAL GAMEPLAY LOOP

Follow the steps in order. If the situation changes, reset your position before continuing.

01

Stay outside bite range

02

charge the spit behind cover

03

fire when the predator faces you

04

change direction together and break sight.

SPECIES STRENGTHS

+Small and hard to see

+Blind is useful support

+Fast growth

WEAKNESSES TO MANAGE

−Almost no damage

−Often dies in one hit

−A missed spit removes the best escape tool

A very weak bite; prioritize spitting and escaping instead of trading damage.

COMBAT NUMBERS

Damage by ability

Actual damage also depends on mass, hitbox, attack direction, bleed and server balance. The table separates fixed values from scaling abilities to avoid treating community figures as absolute damage.

MUTATION PRIORITY

Recommended mutations

This list is the species-wide foundation. After choosing a build below, follow its dedicated loadout order instead of keeping the general priority.

#1
Featherweight

Makes tracks disappear sooner after moving away.

#2
Sustained Hydration

Reduces how often you must visit dangerous water sources.

#3
Reabsorption

Restores hydration from rain or swimmable fresh water.

#4
Hypervigilance

Improves awareness while eating or drinking.

PREFERRED TERRAIN

↗Sanctuary suits this species well

ADVANTAGE TO SECURE

+The herd needs blinds to rescue teammates and open an escape route.

+Blind is useful support

RISKS TO AVOID

−Almost no damage

−Often dies in one hit

NOTE: A build guides decisions; it does not replace reading hitboxes, stamina, team numbers and server-specific settings.

Mutation names, unlock conditions and effects may change with hotfixes. EFG prioritizes developer data; unclear items are treated as community recommendations and should be verified against the in-game description.
